About Sweet Edmonia’s
My mother, Susan "Edmonia" Robinson, is not just my mom but also my inspiration and my shero. Baking was her way of pouring love onto her family. I can still vividly recall the aroma of freshly baked rolls greeting me as I rushed into the house after school. She'd be sitting in her brown chair, tirelessly making more rolls to feed our large family of eight. Each roll, slathered with butter and her homemade jelly, was a soft cloud of goodness with a touch of sweetness that never failed to delight us.
Saturdays were reserved for her legendary homemade cakes, a staple for our Sunday dinners. I'd watch her meticulously prepare the ingredients, ensuring everything was at room temperature, carefully buttering and flouring the pans, mixing the batter, and handling the oven with such precision that we dared not stomp or slam the door, lest the cakes fall. Her cakes were always moist and delicious, not fancy designer cakes but brimming with love, the secret ingredient she never skimped on. My father, Charles Robinson, supported her by being the taste tester, giving advice on what to add and telling those he knew how great a cook she was.
Now, as I have my own family, I've embraced baking just like my inspiration did. Married to my beloved Michael for 33 years, and a proud mother of three wonderful sons—Phillip, Charles, and Dante—I also cherish my daughter-in-law, Mya, and eagerly await the arrival of our first grandchild. My husband, a retired Army Sergeant Major, has always been my biggest supporter.
It's my deepest desire to share the joy of my mother's sweet love through my baking with your family. Welcome to Sweet Edmonia’s Homemade Sweets, where every cake is infused with memories of love and tradition.
